W.O.D. stands for "workout of the day".
Everybody that attends BasixGym participates in the W.O.D.. How is
that possible with
a diverse group of members of all ages, sex and differing levels of
fitness?
The answer is quite simple, we scale the
load not the workout. That way everyone can do the same workout and
at the same time, effectively complete their own workout. The beauty
of a W.O.D. is that
it removes the repetition of doing the same
daily routine that can lead to boredom in a "conventional" gym. When
BasixGym members step through the door in the morning they do not
what exercise they will be doing that day.
The exercises that make up a W.O.D. are
based upon functional movements. The main aim
of CrossFit is to train you for a real world environment. What you
learn to do in the gym should
provide you with a level of fitness to make it easier to cope with
every day life.
The W.O.D. effectively combines the
three main values of CrossFit:
FUNCTION ~ VARIED ~ INTENSE
Over and above the daily W.O.D.s we like to
offer up an extra monthly challenge to our
members. This is an optional workout that anyone can participate in
and test their fitness.
